Rather than put the effort into the 990’s shorter legs, we opted to swap both the forks and rear shock from the 950 S to bring our project bike a bit closer to its original rally heritage. With the suspension swapped, the wheel travel, seat height and ground clearance were now raised 2 inches higher than stock. KTM's profilation of this bike Due to its longer suspension travel and therefore a 35 mm higher seat, the KTM 950 Adventure S is somewhat sportier than its sister, the KTM 950 Adventure. Its direct derivation from the rally sport and the use of high quality components make it a reliable partner which has proven its qualities on any number of
The Adventure S - with 35mm extra suspension travel over the standard Adventure - has a seat height of 915mm. While the BMW GS Adventure is simply big, the KTM Adventure S is simply tall. And though it weighs in dry just a kilo heavier than the Africa Twin its 942cc 75¡ V-twin engine packs a far mightier punch - 200ccs and a decade of
Bring her boots to a shoe maker to get thicker soles put on. It looks weird but you wont have to lower the bike has much. Lowered bike never handle as great as std height. If the lowered bike didn't handle correctly as it was before, it was not done correctly. #12.
The KTM950SM is simply one of the best motorbikes ever made, sports or otherwise. It’s biking pared down to it’s simplest form, the closest equivalent of running an up-scaled motocross bike on the road. KTM have taken everything they’ve learned from building World Championship off-roaders and applied it to the 950SM. It is still the best off-road large adventure bike made during its years of production. As someone else said above, the EFI and better economy, reliability, and reduced maintenance of the 990 engine is desirable enough that some people put a 990 engine in a 950 frame. The 1190 would actually be my choice for a new rider. The 950 adventure is a 942cc 75* V-twin, 11.5 compression ratio, making 102 bhp & 72 lbs-ft of torque mated to a 6 speed transmission, 35 inch seat height, a dry weight of 454 lbs and a 22 L (5.8 gal) fuel capacity. KTM's Adventure 990 takes over from the 942cc carburetted v-twin 950, using a bigger LC8 engine and fuel injection. Geordie beer sponge Chris Moss on the launch of KTM's 2007 Adventure. KTM's Adventure 990 replaces the popular adventure-touring 950 but the LC8 engine remains, albeit using fuel injection and a larger 999cc capacity. .
