Basically at a certain RPM/engine load the torque converter locks its impeller and turbine wheel together, so it just acts as a clutch. This makes for better fuel economy since you're not getting any inefficiency from the torque converter slipping like it normally does during driving. Fewer repairs are always better, especially when you're young. The looks. It isn't a Huracan or Galladro but the FRS is a handsome looking car. Its low profile, flaring fenders, aggressive front end (much better than the BRZ, IMO) - I often still do a double take after parking mine. Fuel economy, surprisingly. The autos in the Fiesta and Focus are absolutely terrible, look into the PowerShifts these cars came with and the numerous issues they have. That's why the transmission was already replaced, they fail constantly. The 5-speed manuals are good as are the engines in these 1.6 Fiestas, which I recommend if you can drive stick, but if not look
The normal 500 is a good car. It isn't trash in any way. It's a European city car transplanted in America. Yes it's slow, yes it's small, but it's a very very good city car. The Abarth is even better. I don't live in the city though. I live where roads are long and occasionally rutty.
Fantastic and forward thinking. But yes, the focus line has been generally low brow in terms of general issues since the first gen and their propensity to rupture headgaskets, if memory serves, but do go into this knowing the focus and by extension fiesta, were built to a budget like most compact/subcompact sedans, they will offer few frills n thrills of that vintage.
Caused by either a worn out battery or a good battery with a bad alternator. If the engine cranks like normal but never starts then you are missing either fuel, spark or compression, or some combination of the 3. To check for fuel, crank the engine then smell for gas at the exhaust pipe. If so, there's a reason it's selling so cheap. The 2014 year model is arguably the worst one for the autos. With the car market the way it is, if you HAVE to have a vehicle, I'd consider buying it. Even if it only lasts you a few years, $4,000 for a car in today's market is pretty much a steal. Be sure to research how to drive these cars.
Worn brake pads, rusty caliper, rusty and damaged brake disks. Everything needs to be replaced. It will take 10 days to fix at a workshop nearby, and faster back home (600kms away) Is it okay or is it super unsafe to drive? The brake pads grind most at slow speeds, but it’s better on highway. 95. 183. r/AskMechanics.
Get a can spray it past the airbox sensor and try to start the car if it starts and then dies its 100% a fuel/ pump issue of some sort. Check your fuel pump fuse and relay. If you let 87 octane gas sit in there for 6 months, it's probably gone bad. You might get away with adding 2-3 gallons of 93 to the tank and might bring back the old fuel.
The Fiesta is the best balance of price, performance, and practicality out of what you can buy. Reddit likes it because the audience for this subreddit is largely young and enthusiastic about cars. This is not representative of the general market. Most people either want a cheap boring commuter, or a luxurious performance car.
I'm almost ready to pull the trigger on a 2016 Fiesta SE. Everything I've read seems to indicate that it's a good car, but I'm always looking for other opinions. My requirements for a car are: Good gas mileage (I drive 300-500 miles a week) Fairly comfortable/smooth ride Decently safe
